Understanding Attrition at Your Agency and

Why it Matters

Thursday, November 4, 2010

1:00 to 4:00 p.m. EST

(doors open at 12:45; light refreshments will be provided)

Partnership for Public Service

1100 New York Avenue NW, Suite 1090 East

Washington, DC 20005

(Metro accessible: Metro Center – Blue, Orange and Red lines)

While employee turnover is a normal part of life at any workplace, and federal turnover is generally lower than the private sector, digging deeper can reveal significant problems that could affect an agency’s ability to fulfill its mission and properly serve the American public, and cost an agency money.

Participants in this event will learn an innovative approach for understanding not only WHO is leaving an agency but WHY employees leave. The session will include the release of a report on  the topic by the Partnership for Public Service and Booz Allen Hamilton, plus a panel discussion about exemplary practices for using attrition analysis.

Workforce planners, staffing specialists and human resources practitioners—anyone responsible for human capital planning, succession planning, retention programs or attrition analysis—are invited to participate. Registration is limited to two representatives per agency or component.

The workshop portion of this event is part of the 2010 Call to Serve Effective Hiring Workshop Series, "Using Innovative Techniques to Improve Recruiting and Hiring." The Call to Serve initiative is co-sponsored by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and the Partnership for Public Service.
